There is something about Badrinath that gets to you before you even arrive. Maybe it is the altitude, the thinning air as the road climbs higher through the Garhwal Himalayas. Maybe it is the Alaknanda rushing alongside you for most of the journey, cold and insistent. By the time you reach the temple at 3,133 metres, with snow on the peaks behind it and the smell of camphor in the air, the journey itself has already done something to you. Badrinath, one of Hinduism's four sacred dhams and among the holiest shrines to Lord Vishnu, earns every kilometre it asks of you. Badrinath trip packages from Aasaan Holidays are planned with the care this journey deserves.
The road up passes through places that carry their own weight: Rishikesh, Devprayag, where two rivers meet and turn green, Rudraprayag, and Joshimath perched on the hillside. Mana village, just 3 km beyond the temple and the last settlement before the Tibetan border, is worth the short walk for the Bhim Pul and Vyas Gufa alone. The temple itself is open only from May to November. Badrinath also forms part of the Chota Char Dham circuit with Yamunotri, Gangotri, and Kedarnath.
